Nobel Foundation

Knowing what to improve next.

Over seven years, I helped Nobel improve the website and publishing workflows behind its annual prize announcements. My role grew from editorial UX into ongoing product counsel, using a close understanding of the people and their routines to help decide what to improve next.

The relationship later expanded to the Nobel Prize Museum, where I led the website redesign from vision through launch. Working on site with the Museum team, I brought its visitor and editorial needs into a clear direction and a scope the team could deliver.

The publishing challenge

Ready for a moment
the world is watching.

Nobel’s announcement workflow involves separate laptops in separate rooms, with sensitive information that has to go public at exactly the right moment. Planning begins in May so the step-by-step daily launch plan is ready for announcement week in October.

I was part of the original team in 2018, working in UX to improve an editorial flow that was cumbersome and had been built in-house. Alongside systems engineering, I helped architect the WordPress-based editorial experience, including the workflow and messages editors needed to act with confidence. Engineering and systems specialists owned their respective technical responsibilities.

Earning confidence

Trust came through
the work, over time.

The long-established internal team knew its systems and wanted to retain familiar ways of working. Building confidence in a different approach took roughly a year of sustained work and relationship-building.

Over seven years, my role evolved from UX into account strategy and ongoing product counsel. I helped align stakeholders, guide successive editorial and website improvements, and prepare for the annual announcement cycle alongside the delivery team.

Repeated on-site work and continued strategic conversations gave the relationship continuity. Each improvement had to respect the organisation’s standards and the expertise of the people already there.

Nobel Prize Museum

A new brief.
The same standard of care.

After more than six years, the partnership expanded into another part of the Foundation: the Nobel Prize Museum. The trust built through the earlier work provided a foundation for that next engagement.

I led the Museum website redesign from vision through launch. On site with the team, I aligned stakeholders around the Museum’s visitor and editorial needs, shaped the direction and made the product and design decisions that turned it into an implementable scope.

What changed

A lasting relationship.
A broader body of work.

The partnership grew from the Nobel Prize website and publishing workflows into the Museum redesign. My contribution combined early editorial UX, years of strategic counsel and stakeholder alignment, and leadership of the Museum work through launch.

I stepped away from the relationship in 2025. The agency continues to support the organisation. This was sustained team work, with my role changing as the relationship and its needs evolved.
